Tips and Tools for Using the
Member-Get-A-Member Campaign

  • MGM is an effective way for current ACS members to help their chapter meet the ACS Student Chapter bylaws requirements. You can sign up as many new members as you want. Each time you'll get an additional blanket throw!
  • Many chapters sign up multiple students for MGM and end up with 20+ blanket throws. Why not put the extras to good use by raffling them off at your next chapter fundraiser?
  • For your next community outreach event, perhaps National Chemistry Week or Chemists Celebrate Earth Day, donate a blanket to a classroom where you volunteer to help encourage kids to further their interest in chemistry.
  • You can also use the blanket...

    ...as an incentive to get students to join your chapter.
    ...as a prize to recognize the accomplishments of a chapter member or student leader.
    ...as a great gift for a favorite Chemistry teacher, advisor or mentor.

    No matter how you use it, the MGM blanket throw is a great tool for recruiting new ACS members.

Additional MGM Guidelines

  • The Nominator and Nominee must use the official MGM application. Please make sure the Nominator's name is entered on the application. This will ensure the shipment of the throw.
  • Nominators may nominate any number of eligible candidates during the campaign, using a MGM application for each nominee. (Nominations will not accumulate from year to year.)
  • Nominators will be recognized in an early 2011 issue of Chemical & Engineering News and listed on the MGM Web site.
  • Nominees for membership can be former members who left the ACS in 2008 or before.
  • Once a Nominee has been accepted for membership and has paid her/his dues, the Nominator will be shipped the Periodic Table of the Elements blanket throw. Please note deliveries can not be made to post office boxes.
